I’m Erica McAlister, Curator of Diptera in the Entomology Department. Read about the day-to-day activities of the role of a curator – sometimes working in the collection (i have about 30000 species to look after which is over a million specimens), sometimes in the lab, and thankfully sometimes in the field. I have many different roles in the museum from my individual work on specimen preparation to public outreach involving public talks.
Here i am being set upon by the very friendly alpaca!
